Cold Calling in Tough Times
I have to say, I was impressed when I saw this article below on cold calling on the NY Times website.
Don’t Be Afraid, It’s Just Cold Calling

I'm a big advocate of "picking up the phone" in both good times and in bad ... but especially in bad. Often, when things remotely start picking up (as it appears things are with the DOW breaking 10,000 this week) confidence starts shifting it's way back into business.
Telemarketing businesses is especially beneficial in tough times - because often decision-makers tend to have a bit less on their plates and perhaps might actually be in their office ... AND they may have a few moments of their time to talk to you.
Great salespeople know - all you need is the telephone to make it rain. Further, the biggest fortunes are often made in tough times like these - so why not get started. Now pick up the phone and start dialing.
